British rock-band Kaiser Chiefs is finally back after a two yer break.
Today it was announced, that they will headline the swedish festival Gurten. The festival will take place on 14-17th of July at the Gurten mountain close to the swiss capital Bern. The line up also includes Underworld, Arctic Monkeys, The Streets, Jamie Cullum, Pendulum, 2 Many DJs, The Bloody Beetroots Death Crew 77, Plan B etc.
At the moment band is working on their new album. According to NME the album will probably be released in June on the label Fiction.

Kaiser Chiefs guitarist Andrew White is to take part in an attempt to set a new record for the world's longest scooter rally.

White will lead thousands of other motorcyclists across the length of the Humber Bridge, near Kingston Upon Hull, next month.

More than 548 scooters are needed to break the existing world record, reports This Is Grimsby.

Organisers for the Grimsby And Cleethorpes Scooter Scene said they were “absolutely stunned” when White said he wanted to be involved.

“To have Andrew White riding his scooter over the Humber Bridge and camping here will be amazing,” they said.

White is one of the founding members of Kaiser Chiefs. The group released their last album 'Off With Their Heads' in 2008.

Mail from KC

If you didn't know, some of us Kaiser Chiefs have started a record label called Chewing Gum Records. Between us we are label bosses, photographer, designer and producers. The first signing is 'The Neat' from Hull, they release their debut single (In Youth Is Pleasure) on Chewing Gum on 26th April. It's up for a place on the BBC 6Music playlist and needs votes, your votes! here's the link to hear a sample and to vote:

In other news, Kaiser Chiefs continue to write, record and demo and generally discover stuff in the studio deep within a basement in the City.

Until soon!

Drummer is keeping busy during band's downtime

Kaiser Chiefs drummer Nick Hodgson has started his own record label.

Named Chewing Gum, the label's first signing are Hull band The Neat. According to Hodgson's Kaiser Chiefs bandmates Peanut and Simon Rix, the drummer is writing material for The Neat as well as producing them.

As well as revealing Hodgson's new venture, Peanut told the Daily Star that Kaiser Chiefs, currently on a band break, have vague plans to start work on new material later this year.

"We're all doing our own thing for a while but will reconvene Kaiser Chiefs probably at the end of the summer," he said.

Hodgson is understood to be looking for other new acts to sign to Chewing Gum, which he has set up with his girlfriend. Kaiser Chiefs singer (and former art teacher) Ricky Wilson is also on board, and is designing a logo for the label.
